Singer detained for infamous video in which she allegedly smoked crack; joins Oprah, Bill Clinton, Queen, and many more at birthday fest.
The life of Amy Winehouse doesn't appear to spend much time in that humdrum gray area where most of the world resides.

On the same day that the singer was announced as one of the headliners for the 90th birthday celebration for former South African President Nelson Mandela, Winehouse was arrested in connection with a widely circulated video that allegedly showed her smoking crack in January.
Winehouse will be joined at the Live 8-style birthday bash, set for London's Hyde Park on June 27, by Leona Lewis, Queen, Annie Lennox, the Sugababes, Simple Minds, Dame Shirley Bassey, Razorlight, Jamelia, and two of the Corrs. Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, and Mandela himself are scheduled to appear.
Proceeds will go to Mandela's 46664 campaign, which raises awareness about AIDS in Africa and elsewhere, taking its name from the former president's prison number during his captivity on Robben Island.
Though she'll get to rub elbows with royalty and its rock-and-roll equivalent, Winehouse has more legal trouble to deal with in the meantime. The 24-year-old singer was arrested on suspicion of drug possession, police said today.

Winehouse reportedly turned herself into a London police station by appointment. The arrest is directly tied to a widely circulated video that allegedly shows Winehouse smoking crack, her spokesman told the Associated Press.
In January, UK tabloid The Sun published still images from a video that it claimed showed Winehouse inhaling fumes from a small pipe. The images were said to have been filmed during a party at her London home.
Winehouse entered rehab shortly after the publication of the photos, emerging in time to perform via satellite at the Grammy Awards, at which she won five awards.
